1. Facilities Staff Member Job Description
Here’s a full-time, hands on opportunity to serve the Lord in an exciting camping ministry atmosphere, helping to make a spiritual, life-changing difference in the lives of hundreds of young people each year.

Haluwasa is looking for a spiritual minded, motivated, and positive-thinking facilities staff member with good ability and experience in maintaining building facilities, equipment, and vehicles, plus general grounds keeping. Applicant should be a self-starter, physically fit, resourceful, well organized, eager to follow direction and communicate with other team members, and able to accomplish tasks quickly and completely.

Flexibility in terms of ministry time needed and individual job assignments is also important. Ministry positions like those at Haluwasa often create schedule and time demands that exceed typical employment situations, especially during summer camping. In addition, every staff member at Haluwasa must have a servant’s heart and be willing to do a diversity of menial tasks regardless of their position within the organization. Situations will often arise when a staff member must change their task in a moment’s notice and be willing to do so with a happy willing spirit.

2. General Ministry Description
The ministry at Haluwasa includes 6 to 8 weeks of summer camp for about 1,200 young people aged 6 to 16, spring and fall weekend youth retreats, monthly evening teen ministry events which are typically outdoor night games with a spiritually challenging devotional, CODE (a Christian Outdoor Education program), senior luncheons, banquets, concerts, plus other “special” program events throughout the year. We also host guest groups at our facility on a year-round basis. They are typically youth groups but occasionally adult groups from local churches.

3. Haluwasa Mission Statement
Through camping and other activities, the mission of Haluwasa, Inc. is to share the salvation message of God’s Word, leading as many individuals as possible to trust in Christ as their personal Savior, and also to teach believers important biblical precepts, encouraging them to reach their full spiritual potential in their relationship with the Lord.

4. Haluwasa’s Doctrinal Position
Being in full agreement with Haluwasa’s ministry doctrinal position is very important for every staff member. Haluwasa’s theology could be defined as “evangelical” and a general explanation of our theological position as well as our position on some practical worship matters is provided as follows.

We consider the Bible to be God’s Word and our supreme authority. We believe that individuals can read, understand the Bible, and trust it as literal truth. We believe that Jesus is God’s only-begotten and divine Son. We believe that we are all born in sin and as a result we are under the condemnation of God’s judgment which is eternal punishment and separation from Him. We believe that God loves us all and by His grace has provided a merciful means by which we can obtain complete forgiveness of sin and establish an eternal personal relationship and fellowship with Him.

We believe that Jesus came to earth to be our example and that He provided a once-for-all sacrifice for our sins by His death on the cross. We believe that a person must individually recognize their condition of being in sin, having absolutely no merit before God, and having need for personal salvation. We believe the Bible teaches that if we place our personal belief, faith, and trust in Jesus as our personal Savior, we are immediately forgiven of our sins and become part of God’s family, eternally secure without the possibility of future separation from Him.

We believe that when place our trust in Christ as our Savior, our life is immediately transformed by the indwelling of God’s Holy Spirit, providing us with the ability to live a life of faith and grace. We believe that as a result of our life having been redeemed (or purchased) by the blood of Christ on the cross, we become bond-servants of Jesus. As such we are commanded to always to exhibit God’s love and actively share the Gospel message within our sphere of influence. We are also commanded to live a holy life according to biblical principles until the moment Jesus takes us to our eternal home.

While there are some versions of the Bible we feel do not properly represent Holy Scripture, we recognize and use several good versions including but not limited to the KJV, NKJV, NIV, NASB, and others. We sometimes use modern English translations like the NLT so children can more readily understand the text.

While we recognize the biblical gifts of the Spirit, we do not believe that “speaking in tongues,” “healing” and other “sign” gifts are operational today.

While generally conservative in nature, we use a variety of music types in our programs including hymns, praise choruses, fun camp songs, and select contemporary Christian music. We recognize that some so-called “Christian music” does not properly represent our faith and the performing artists do not exemplify the Christian life. As a result, we always prayerfully select music that we feel is honoring to our Lord.

5. Staff Lifestyle
It’s important that every Haluwasa staff member display a consistent and exemplary Christian testimony and lifestyle indicated by one’s Christian humility, gentleness, respect for others, open honesty, and desire to encourage others. Staff members should also have a positive “can-do” work attitude, willingness to follow instructions, a punctual and diligent work ethic, and ability to work with and alongside others in true teamwork.

Abstaining from every appearance of evil is also critical. Haluwasa staff may not engage in the use of alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, non-medical mind-altering drugs, or possess or use any other illegal substances of any kind at any time.
